MINI Car HANGING PROJECT, SWINDON
This took the form of painting the side of a tower block to resemble a road (complete with roundabouts, direction arrows etc), plus the hanging of a wall-mounted Mini & one fixed to the roof. These cars weigh several hundred kilos and are significant loads in terms of lifting & attaching to the building.
Confined Space diving
We spent more than two months unblocking & repairing a 2 kilometre long flood-overflow tunnel from a Scottish Loch. Some of the passages were walking-sized, some were body-sized partially-flooded culverts and some were smaller-than-body-sized totally submerged culverts that needed digging out before the divers could progress. Not a straight-forward undertaking & no other company in the UK could have undertaken such a specialist contract...
Confined Space tunnel stabilisation
In conjunction with the diving operation the rest of the crew spent months surveying, photographing, stabilising (meshing & pinning) the six entrance shafts (some of them were more than 20 metres deep), re-pointing culverts, repairing long stretches of stone & brickwork that had been washed out by repeated flood pulses, and constantly dragging spoil back to the surface.
Safety Mountaineer, Kurdistan
Unlimited Access provided the Project Manager/Team Leader & a Safety Mountaineer for the first rotation of Seismic Safety Mountaineers in Iraqi Kurdistan. Due to our previous experience in this industry we were tasked with recruitment, training, equipment sourcing, and managing of the set-up phase & subsequently the in-country organisation. The project came to an end due to the activities of foreign insurgents which effectively closed off the country....
nature reserve rubbish removal
As we are approved contractors for the NRW (Natural Resources for Wales) as well as registered upper tier waste carriers, we are tasked with clearing rubbish from a deep gorge in the Black Mountains. Nobody expected the vast amount that has been thrown down there over the years but this is one of our more satisfying contracts.
Church roof repairs
Unlimited Access are often asked to conduct repairs in locations that normal contractors can't safely reach.
Tower repairs
We have spent most of our summer & autumn conducting repairs to the Meridian Tower, the tallest building in Wales. These have taken the form of glazing replacement, balcony fixings, securing of cladding, EPDM roof patching, and so forth. It's been both a privilege and a challenge to spend so much time on this iconic structure.
monorail install
Work in progress: installation of a suspended BMU monorail to allow access to a Green Wall within an office block. Our dilemma was that we needed to drill holes into steel beams that are covered in thick intumescent (fire-resistant) paint that we were not allowed to remove. Not many mag drills are capable of this, but the "Rotabroach Element 40 Perm" did the trick...
